Pictures of some of my own works

These pieces were inspire by King John's Castle and St. John's Cathedral. Each piece is based on form and shape. I opted to choose the form of the round tower of the castle and from the Cathedral, I opted to choose shapes that not many people would take notice of and if they did, they would forget them almost instantly. I chose an arrow form from the external architecture of the Cathedral and some interior wood carvings from a lecturn and the pews.

The following pieces were inspired from the throwing workshop we had with Karen

The blue and turquoise pieces are the inspired pieces.

Other pieces with the bottom image are from the workshop we had with Josie Walter. Unfortunately, two of the three piece cracked during firing.

Josie Walter

Josie Walter is a ceramicist who is based in Derby, England.

Josie came over to Ireland to show us how a ceramicist can make a living in the real world. She showed us how she creates her work, and she uses red earthenware, mainly, to create her pieces.

These are photos of Josie's 2-3 days with us in a ceramics workshop.

these are Josie's works, the fired images i'll upload in the morning

Karen Morgan pics

Over the last month I've been studying Ceramics as my discipline, and I've been having an amazing learning experience alongside my class mates. We've had workshops from ceramicists Karen Morgan and Josie Walter, who were more than helpful in inspiring each of us to try out new things when it came to our own work.

Karen Morgan.

Karen is a Porcelain ceramicist who makes her wares in Kilkenny. A former student of LSAD, Limerick and Thomastown, Kilkenny.

Karen hand makes porcelain ceramics by throwing them on a throwing wheel.

Karen was with us for 2-3 days giving us an insight into how she creates her innovative porcelain ware, from how she throws them to how she gives them her unique twist. The following pictures are from Karen's time with us in the ceramic workshop.
